Hi my name is Sammie McDowell and I am an all-breed handler located in Anchorage, Alaska. I have been handling dogs for 20 years, showing my 1st dog (Group winning Curly Coated retriever) "Sterling" at 6 years old to many group placements, and together winning a Group 1 (both Sterling & I were 10 years old).
There on I continued showing many different breeds of dogs (well over 20 different JR dogs) to many Best Junior handler awards. This to include Best Jr Handler at the Bouvier des Flanders National, as well as making it down to the final cut at Westminster with an Irish setter named "Ashley".
After my Jr. Career ended at 18 I started my career as a Professional Dog Handler with in the State of Alaska, traveling occasionally throughout the year to different shows out of State (on a limited basis as I work full time with in the Medical Community -Clinical Services Coordinator @ Anchorage Womens’ Clinic -anchoragewomsensclinic.com ) I travel to Nationals as well as other invitational shows such as Eukanuba, Westminster, etc. I have taken dogs to final cuts at Nationals and or Awards of Merits and recently (May 2008) won BOB at the Curly Coated Retriever Club of America National Specialty in Carlisle, PA. I have also won multiple Best in Shows on several different breeds and countless group 1 awards.
